Discover the Journey of Thameka Hall

Thameka Irene-Nichole Hall, Esq., is a proud alumnus of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy.

A Seasoned Attorney

Thameka is a seasoned attorney with over a decade of experience in both criminal and civil law, having successfully represented individuals and families across Michigan in state and federal court. Her passion for promoting positive youth development was ignited during an internship at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Juvenile Division, where she participated in a federally-funded drug court program for juveniles charged with drug-related offenses.

Thameka has continued to serve her community as the Expulsion Hearing Officer and Outside Counsel in Detroit Public Schools Community District. In this role, she enforced student code of conduct policies and procedures, state and special education laws, behavior intervention and support services, and conflict resolution strategies. Her expertise has also informed the development of district-wide initiatives, including the “Anti-Bullying Policy and Legal Tips” staff training and Student Code of Conduct Awareness Assembly.

Thameka firmly believes that proactivity is essential to fostering productive youth in society. By promoting education, awareness, and support, she aims to empower students with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate complex behavioral expectations and consequences.

Assistant Prosecutor

Thameka’s next role as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office provided her with extensive trial experience and exposure to a wide range of cases. In the Juvenile Division, she handled matters involving juveniles charged with misdemeanor, felony, and truancy offenses. Thameka demonstrated her commitment to supporting families and preventing recidivism by advocating for resources that aided parents and families with delinquent youth.

One notable example of this was her involvement with Right TRAC, a diversion program designed to identify “at-risk” youth charged with minor offenses who were motivated to take responsibility for their actions. By participating in this program, Thameka helped ensure that these young individuals received the support they needed to make positive choices and avoid further delinquency.

Thameka’s experience continued to grow as she was later assigned to the General Trials Unit. In this role, she prosecuted a variety of felony cases, including:

  • Arson
  • Forgery
  • Robbery
  • Assaults
  • Home invasions
  • Drug violations
  • Homicides
  • Theft
  • Embezzlement
  • Retail fraud
  • Weapon offenses

This experience not only honed her trial skills but also deepened her understanding of the complexities involved in prosecuting cases that involved violent or serious crimes.

Practice civil law

After transitioning to practice civil law, Thameka served as an Associate In-House Counsel for a major insurance company, where she handled complex cases involving personal injury/no-fault claims and probate matters. This experience provided her with valuable expertise in navigating the intricacies of tort law and estate planning.

Thameka’s current practice has shifted to employment law, where she represents individuals whose civil rights have been violated. Her expertise extends to handling cases involving:

  • Discrimination
  • Harassment
  • Wrongful termination
  • Whistleblower retaliation

In both state and federal courts, Thameka advocates tirelessly for her clients, ensuring they receive fair compensation and justice.

Her experience has also equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities involved in employment law, allowing her to effectively navigate the nuances of case law, regulations, and statutes.

Residence

Beyond her impressive professional credentials, Thameka is deeply committed to giving back to her community. A lifelong resident of Oakland County, she resides in Southfield and is devoted mother to her daughter. When not focused on her legal career, Thameka can be found serving her community through various pro-bono initiatives.

Her dedication to this cause is matched only by her commitment to the Oakland County community at large.
